Cambridge, UK – October 2016
Stop #2 in our “United Kingdom Housesitting Tour” is almost complete! Since many people seem curious about this new adventure, we thought it would be fun to recap gigs as they roll by. And, we’re happy to answer any questions if you want to give housesitting a try too!
Our latest “job” has been looking after a beautiful home in Cambridge while the hosts enjoy an eight-day beach vacation. We arrived the morning of their departure to have breakfast together, get to know each other, and go over responsibilities. What are those responsibilities, you might ask? Feeding and loving two sugar-sweet and shy cats, keeping an eye on the house, watering plants, and…well, that’s about it.
Super tough job, right?
Being in a real neighborhood, just a short walk from Mill Road’s trendy shops and restaurants and quick bus ride or running route along Cam River to historic colleges, offers a glimpse of how it feels to reside here.
Thus far on this “tour,” we have stayed rent-free for 22 out of 28 days in October with two back-to-back sits. We’ve met lovely people and made new friends, both of the two and four-legged variety, and we’ve experienced new places from a more local perspective (just the way we like it!)
Next up: One week taking care of a young couple’s 400-year-old country cottage (a mighty renovation project,) and their two small dogs. They tell us the village pub in stumbling distance. Soon, we shall see!
